Gordonia Private Hotel

Maale Hachamisha, Kiryat Anavim ·21 rooms ·Check-in from 15:00

Olive Trees, Vines and a Deck of Your Own

The road west out of Jerusalem climbs into pine and terraces, and fifteen minutes later the city is gone. Gordonia Private sits up there beside Kiryat Anavim, among olive trees, fig trees and vines, built to look as though it grew from the same ground: wood, Jerusalem stone, deep greens, bronze. The lobby is arranged as a living room, with seating, a dining area and a kitchenette rather than a reception counter. The suites open onto decks, and on the upper tiers the deck carries a private heated pool, which is the detail the house has become known for.

Why It Works

We kept Gordonia Private because it is unambiguous about what it is for. Adults only, suites rather than rooms, half board included, and a scale small enough that the staff know who is arriving. The tiers are honestly drawn: the entry level junior suite already runs thirty five square metres under a high slanted wooden ceiling, and the climb from there buys outdoor space and privacy rather than floor area alone. More than six hundred guest reviews put it at 9.2 out of ten, on a property where guests stay long enough to notice everything.

Why This Location

Fifteen minutes from Jerusalem and roughly thirty from Tel Aviv is the useful part of this address: near enough for a day in either city, far enough that neither follows you home. The setting is agricultural rather than scenic in the postcard sense, with vineyards, olive groves and the terraces of the Judean hills, and the walking starts at the gate. You will want a car, and parking is on site. What you give up is the ability to step out to a restaurant or a bar, and the hotel answers that by including dinner.

Five Tiers of Suite, and What Each One Buys

The ladder is unusually legible. The junior suite sets the floor at thirty five square metres, with the slanted wooden ceiling that gives every category its volume. Above it the tiers add depth of terrace, seclusion, and finally a private heated pool on the deck in place of a shared one. Nothing in the range reads as the compromise category that usually sits at the bottom of a luxury list. If the private pool is the reason you are booking, take the tier that names it rather than hoping for an upgrade on arrival.

Half Board, in a Dairy and Fish Kitchen

Breakfast and dinner are both included, and that changes the rhythm of a stay: nobody drives out in the evening, and the dining room fills at the same hour. The kitchen is kosher, dairy and fish, and the presentation matches the rest of the house. Between meals the living room does the work, with its seating and its kitchenette. Massages are arranged in the suite or outside on the deck rather than in a treatment wing, which suits a property of this size.

What to Know Before You Book

This is an adults only hotel: children are not accepted, and neither are pets. Check-in runs from 15:00 to 17:00, a narrow window to plan a flight around, with check-out at 11:00. Staff work in Hebrew and English. There is no step free access and the site is built on levels. Event and meeting facilities exist, so a weekend can occasionally coincide with a private function; ask when you book if quiet is the whole point of the trip.
